John Blain has been promoted to Superintendent and CEO of the Nanaimo Ladysmith School District.
He stepped in as Acting Superintendent when Dave Hutchinson resigned.
SD68 Board Chair Steve Rae says they quickly realized Blain was the best man for the job, and offered it to him as a permanent post.
He says now they need to get down to business.
Rae says they’re pleased Blain is keen to take over the district’s top job, despite the challenges they’re facing, including a multi-million dollar budget shortfall.

Blain’s background includes a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education, and a Masters in Administration and Leadership, and Rae says he’s is highly respected by the current Board.
