Nanaimo RCMP and the BC Coroners Service are investigating the discovery of a badly decomposed body.
The skeletal remains were found around 1:00pm on Sunday in Millstone Creek. Constable Gary O’Brien says the grisly discovery was made by a man out walking.
RCMP Forensic officers and a team from the BC Coroners Service pulled the body out of the water with help from the West Coast Marine Unit and took it to the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital morgue.
Police say it looks as though the body had been in the water for some time. An autopsy will be done later this week.
