City Council wants to be heard on bridge proposals

They’ve started the feasibility study on a fixed link to Gabriola Island, and Nanaimo City Council wants to make sure it doesn’t include any bridge that would encroach on Cable Bay Trail.

Councillor Diane Brennan says it’s important to take a stand on that now.

Council agreed last night to write both BC Ferries and the Provincial government. The letter will make it clear the City expects to be consulted on any fixed link proposal, and that it must not impact Cable Bay Trail in any way.   One thing the letter won’t say, however, is whether the City actually supports the idea of a fixed link.
