Gas tax money sought for projects tied to Sechelt’s new sewer plant

The District of Sechelt is hoping for gas tax money to come through for a couple of projects tied to its new multimillion dollar waste water treatment plant.

One of the them is the park the District wants to create at the site of the old plant.

Project manager Paul Nash told Council this week that if they get enough grant money they could restore salmon habitat in the area.

The district is also going after gas tax money to help pay for the plan to make reclaimed water from the treated sewage available for industrial purposes and irrigation.

They’re not likely to hear back on either application until late in the year.
