Trying to avoid roadside check proves futile for Sunshine Coast driver

A little lesson from Sunshine Coast RCMP that when it comes to impaired driving you can run, but you can’t hide.

RCMP say on December 13th they had a Counter Attack road check set up on Highway 101 near Largo Road. Police say a vehicle do a u-turn on Largo Road after apparently spotting the officers.

An RCMP cruiser pulled out and followed the driver with lights and siren going, and stopped them a short distance away.

Police say the driver smelled of alcohol and admitted to drinking earlier in the evening. He was given a roadside screening test, and after two fails got handed a 90-day license suspension and had his vehicle impounded for 30 days.
